Wolfgang Althof, Ph.D.
Professor Emeritus

Wolfgang Althof was the Teresa M. Fischer Professor of Citizenship Education and served as the Executive Director of the Citizenship Education Clearing House (CECH) at the College of Education and the Co-Director (with Marvin W. Berkowitz) of the Center for Character and Citizenship from 2005-2016. Prior to coming to UM-St. Louis he was at the Department of Education, University of Fribourg, Switzerland. At UMSL, he teaches courses in Citizenship Education and Qualitative Social Research Methods. Cody Ding, Ph.D.
Professor

Dr. Cody Ding completed his Ph.D. at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. He was trained as a psychologist emphasizing developmental psychology, methodology, and measurement. Over the years, he has been working as a professor at universities, teaching educational and psychological assessment, behavioral analysis, and other methodological related courses. His research interests include growth modeling, machine learning, big data analysis, network modeling, multidimensional scaling, and the effects of social experiences on cognition.

Helene J. Sherman, Ed.D.
Scholar in Residence

     Helene J. Sherman, Ed. D., is an Emeritus Professor in the College of Education at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. She earned her undergraduate degree in elementary education at Washington University in St. Louis and a masters and doctorate degree in education at UM-St. Louis. Dr. Sherman taught elementary school and mathematics in middle school and at community colleges. During her 25-year tenure at UM-SL, she taught undergraduate and graduate mathematics education and STEM courses.
