Dr. Kerkhoff utilizes mixed methods to investigate critical, digital, and global literacies. Her work has been published in Teaching and Teacher Education, Reading and Writing: An Interdisciplinary Journal, and Reading Research Quarterly. She taught high school English for seven years, including North Carolina and District of Columbia Public Schools.

Dr. Katherine O'Daniels teaches courses in literacy assessment and instruction to students seeking initial teaching certification at both the graduate and undergraduate level in both face-to-face and online settings. Dr. Rogers is an educational researcher who specializes in literacy studies, teacher learning and critical discourse studies. Her research focuses on the socio-political contexts of literacy and language education and situates critical discourse analysis within an ethnographic tradition. Thomas R. Schnell, Ph.D.

Thomas Schnell received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale with a major in English and a minor in Speech. He received a Master of Science degree from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville, majoring in Secondary Education-Reading and minoring in English literature. His Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with emphasis in Reading was awarded by SIU-Carbondale. Dr. Schnell taught in various Illinois high schools and one elementary school and at the St. Louis Community College district before coming to UM-St. Louis in 1971. Nancy Robb Singer holds B.S. Ed. and M.Ed. degrees from the University of Missouri—Columbia and a Ph.D. from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. She is also a faculty lead in the English Education program. Her research interests include online support of beginning teachers, investigation of how teachers create and perceive their professional identities and philosophies, and mentoring teachers preparing for jobs in hard-to-staff schools.
