Kathleen S. Brown, Ph.D.
Associate Professor Emeritus

Kathleen Sullivan Brown, Ph.D., is Chair and Associate Professor of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies in the College of Education at the University of Missouri St. Louis. Dr. Brown earned a Ph.D. from the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences of Washington University in 1995. She has also served as a Fellow of the University’s Public Policy Research Center and Center for International Studies. At UM St. Louis, she teaches graduate level foundations courses in the social, economic and political contexts of education. Carole Murphy, Ed.D.
Professor Emeritus

Carole H. Murphy is a 20-year veteran of the Texas public school system and an 18-year veteran of higher education. She is an internationally known educator in the fields of educational leadership and social studies education. She has worked as a teacher and an administrator in higher education and K-12 schools. For several years, she taught and was an administrator in the American International School System, Johannesburg, South Africa. In addition, she has been published in numerous international journals in the areas of professional development schools, cultural diversity, technology with students at both the K-12 and university levels, and in helping teachers understand action research.

Nancy Singer, Ph.D.
Associate Dean

Nancy Robb Singer holds B.S. Ed. and M.Ed. degrees from the University of Missouri—Columbia and a Ph.D. from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. She is also a faculty lead in the English Education program. Her research interests include online support of beginning teachers, investigation of how teachers create and perceive their professional identities and philosophies, and mentoring teachers preparing for jobs in hard-to-staff schools.

Kim H. Song, Professor at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, received her Ed.D in Instructional Processes from Southern Illinois University –Edwardsville in 1991. Kim is a bilingual in Korean and English, and her main research interests include:

Gayle A. Wilkinson, Ed.D.
Associate Professor Emeritus

Gayle A. Wilkinson received her Ed.D. in Secondary Education/ Teacher Development and M.S. in Biology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Her undergraduate degree (BA) was in Biology with teacher certification from Olivet Nazarene University. Before becoming a teacher she was a research biologist. Dr. Wilkinson taught middle school science, high school biology, and supervised student teachers before coming to UM-St. Louis.
