Updates from the Office of Educator Effectiveness and Accreditation

  • Melanie gave update for OEAA
  • Kimberly’s last day was Wednesday September 30 and we do not know if her position will be filled
  • Hoping to submit self study on November 5
  • Brian has moved CPQC meeting minutes to a COE website

Review of course and program proposals

ESPP Program/Courses

  • Graduate Certificate in in Social Justice
    • Mike moved motion to talk about approval for this certificate
      • Julie seconded 
      • Mike gave background about this program not being new but has been updated to become a part of the racial justice institute that will partner with a school district but anyone can apply to and receive the certificate. 
      • More questions need to be answered before making a vote on this certificate, therefore, it will need to be tabled 
      • Lynn moved to table
        • Doris seconded
          • Approved unanimously 
      • This proposal will be voted on through email
        • Questions that need to be answered: 
          1. What is the social justice institute?
          2. Can students who are not affiliated with the institute take these courses are are they able to do so without being enrolled in the institute?
          3. For students not affiliated with the institute are they missing foundational coursing that will need to be obtained for this certificate?

EPL Program Proposals

These are four new courses, UMSL, UMKC, & Missou are entering into a course sharing model to meet the need of these courses to be taken with the three different campuses since there are not enough students in each campus to take individually. The course will be offered consistently on each campus but the course might be ofference at one of the three courses.

  • Katie moved to bundle these courses
    • Lynn seconded 
      • It was approved unanimously  
  • ED ADM 5626-Theories of Educational Administration
    • For the short title, ‘theories’ was spelled wrong it will be edited
    • The first sentence will be changed to: This course emphasizes adroit theories of education administration that impact strict-level leadership.
  • ED ADM 5627- Advanced Education Supervision
    • Short title will be changed to ‘Adv educ supervision’
    • The second sentences will be changed to ‘the course emphasizes’ the third sentence will be changed to ‘this is a seminar course with a pracied of applications of supervision practices’
    • Mike will also talk to James Shuls about the the language for the course description for the flow to adobe more consistent 
  • ED ADM 6424-Educational Leadership-Superintendent as Instructional Leader
    • The second sentence will be edited to not be passive voice
  • ED ADM 6435- Superintendent: Legal Leadership and Management
    • The last sentence will be edited to say “In a school context” instead of ‘in the school setting’ 
    • Mike moved motion to vote on these courses as a bundle
      • Julie seconded
        • It was approved unanimously 
    • This vote is contingent based on these changes listed above
  • TCH ED 6411 : Curriculum Leadership in Education
    • Katie moved motion to vote on this course 
      • Lynn seconded 
        • This course was approved unanimously 
  • Minor in Education
    • Katie moved motion to vote on this minor in education
      • Mike seconded
      • Health, Physical Education, Counseling Ed and Ed Rem were added as curricular choices for those completing a minor in education 
      • The changes for this minor was approved unanimously

Next meeting will be Wednesday, November 4th over Zoom from 1-3pm.
