School and Family Counseling Center

 

Bridging School and Community through professional counseling services, consultation, and training

The School and Family Counseling Center assists families in need of counseling services with affordable counseling provided by professional counselors and graduate counseling students. The School and Family Counseling Center is operated through the Division of Counseling and Family Therapy at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. The Center provides training for school and community counseling practicum students in the master’s and doctoral counselor training programs. The students are under the supervision of faculty members who hold licenses in mental health professions, including licensed professional counselors, licensed psychologists, licensed marriage and family therapists, and other appropriate licensing.

SERVICES:
Counseling services including individual, couple, family, and group counseling are available for children, adolescents, and adults. We accept clients who are referred from local schools, including students and their families. Mental health seminars and professional development opportunities are also available.

HOURS:
Hours of operation can vary. The Center is open Mondays thru Thursdays, and Saturday mornings. Please note that the Center is closed during university vacation breaks.

SCHEDULING AN APPOINTMENT:
To schedule an appointment with one of our counselors, please call the Center at (314)-516-4613 to complete a brief intake interview.

LOCATION:
The School and Family Counseling Center is located at University of Missouri-St. Louis campus in the Regional Center for Education and Work (RCEW) building, Suite 9.

COST:
The School and Family Counseling Center determines fees using a sliding scale, based on a person’s economic resources. In no circumstance will client fees exceed $50 per hourly session with Counselors-In-Training. Insurance is not accepted.

DIRECTIONS:
The School and Family Counseling Center is located within the Regional Center for Education and Work (RCEW) building on the University of Missouri-St. Louis campus:

Directions from I-70 going East (toward downtown): Exit Hwy. I-70 East at Exit 240, University Blvd. Turn right and proceed to the intersection of University Blvd. and University Place Drive. At that stop light, turn right onto University Place Drive. Proceed until you reach the first fork in the road and turn left onto Mark Twain Drive. Proceed approximately 20 feet and make another immediate left down the hill, to the road which eventually dead ends. You will see the large red Regional Center for Education and Work sign on your left, Building #43. We are located in Suite 9.

Directions from I-70 going West (from downtown): Exit Hwy. I-70 West at Exit 240, University Blvd. Bear left. Turn left at the base of the exit ramp, and proceed to the intersection of University Blvd. and University Place Drive. At that stop light, turn right onto University Place Drive. Proceed until you reach the first fork in the road and turn left onto Mark Twain Drive. Proceed approximately 20 feet and make another immediate left down the hill, to the road which eventually dead ends. You will see the large red Regional Center for Education and Work sign on your left, Building #43. We are located in Suite 9.

PARKING:
If you arrive after 4:00 p.m., feel free to park in the main lot closest to the RCEW building. If your appointment is before 4:00 p.m., please park in the visitor parking provided across the street on the lot of the QT Storage Building, #57. Parking for individuals with a disability is always available, regardless of the time of day, in the main parking lot located at the RCEW building.
