Natalie Bolton, Ph.D.
Associate Professor

Natalie Bolton received her Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Organizational Development from the University of Louisville in 2008. She also has an M.A. in Secondary Education with emphasis in Social Studies Education, and a B.A. in Secondary Education, Social Sciences major in History and minor in Geography.

Charles R. Granger, Ph.D.
Professor of Biology and Education

Professor Granger earned a B.S. in botany and zoology from Iowa State University, an M.S. in Biology and an M.S. in science education, both from the University of Pennsylvania, and Ph.D. in plant physiology and science education from the University of Iowa. He is a member of numerous professional associations, including the Biology Association for Teachers, the National Science Supervisors Association, and the National Association for Research in Science Education. Professor Granger has received numerous teaching awards, including the University of Missouri system Presidential Award for Outstanding Teaching and is Secretary of The Academy of Science of St. Louis.

Clark J. Hickman, Ed.D.
Emeritus Associate Dean And Emeritus Associate Research Professor

Dr. Clark Hickman earned his doctorate from the University of Missouri-St. Louis in 1993. He studies self-efficacy theory as it relates to motivation to learn, as well as student and instructor behaviors.

Carole Murphy, Ed.D.
Professor Emeritus

Carole H. Murphy is a 20-year veteran of the Texas public school system and an 18-year veteran of higher education. She is an internationally known educator in the fields of educational leadership and social studies education. She has worked as a teacher and an administrator in higher education and K-12 schools. For several years, she taught and was an administrator in the American International School System, Johannesburg, South Africa. In addition, she has been published in numerous international journals in the areas of professional development schools, cultural diversity, technology with students at both the K-12 and university levels, and in helping teachers understand action research.

Helene J. Sherman, Ed.D.
Professor Emeritus

     Helene J. Sherman, Ed. D., is an Emeritus Professor in the College of Education at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. She earned her undergraduate degree in elementary education at Washington University in St. Louis and a masters and doctorate degree in education at UM-St. Louis. Dr. Sherman taught elementary school and mathematics in middle school and at community colleges. During her 25-year tenure at UM-SL, she taught undergraduate and graduate mathematics education and STEM courses. Gayle A. Wilkinson, Ed.D.
Associate Professor Emeritus

Gayle A. Wilkinson received her Ed.D. in Secondary Education/ Teacher Development and M.S. in Biology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Her undergraduate degree (BA) was in Biology with teacher certification from Olivet Nazarene University. Before becoming a teacher she was a research biologist. Dr. Wilkinson taught middle school science, high school biology, and supervised student teachers before coming to UM-St. Louis.
