The UMSL College of Education has been a University Partner with Teach For America since 2006. Teach For America has a mission “to build the movement to eliminate educational inequity by enlisting our nation's most promising future leaders in the effort.”
TFA recruits outstanding recent college graduates from all backgrounds and career interests to commit to teach for two years in urban and rural public schools. TFA corps members are placed in the Kansas City and St. Louis regions each year. As the University Partner, UMSL provides corps members with the necessary coursework to earn teacher certification in two years. Most corps members complete additional coursework and earn a Master's degree in Early Childhood, Elementary, Secondary, or Special Education.
I have liked UMSL because it gives teachers a way to connect outside the classroom, and trade tips and ideas to help our students reach their full potential.
My UMSL professors are always available to support my academic success in anyway they can.
I love the flexibility of the program, it challenges me but makes learning fun and practical. I am also able to apply what I am learning in my classroom each week.
My experience with all of the professors at UMSL has been fantastic! As a first year teacher, I appreciated their kindness and helpfulness in making the rigorous online master’s program achievable.
I like UMSL because my instructors care.
I am so proud.
