A professor who retires in good standing from the UM system may receive the honorary title of professor emeritus for men, or professor emerita for women. This title is granted by the Chancellor in recognition of meritorious service of at least 15 years as a full-time faculty at UMSL and upon recommendation by a vote of department faculty colleagues.
