Amber Candela, Ph.D., Ph.D.
Dr. Candela is an assistant professor in mathematics education who started at UMSL in 2014. Her research interests include teachers use of high cognitive demand tasks and their perspectives on what affects their use and implementation of high cognitive demand tasks in their classroom, and is currently working with teachers to improve their practice using such tasks. Dr. Candela is involved with teaching mathematics methods classes to prospective elementary teachers and methods courses to prospective middle and secondary mathematics teachers.
Lloyd I. Richardson, Jr., Ph.D., Ph.D.
He was named Curators' Teaching Professor in 2003. He has secured over $9 million of external funding and served as PI or Co-PI on over $37 million of external funding.
Helene J. Sherman, Ed.D., Ed.D.
Helene J. Sherman, Ed. D., is a Professor of Education in the College of Education at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Professor Sherman earned her A.B. degree in elementary education from Washington University , and her M.Ed. in elementary education and Ed.D. degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an Emphasis in Mathematics Education at UM-St. Louis. She taught mathematics in elementary and middle schools as well as the community college and currently teaches mathematics education courses. Dr. Sherman is coauthor ofPearson published digits, an interactive national middle grades math curriculum and has co-authored several books, including Teaching Learners Who Struggle with Mathematics...
