Teresa M. Fischer Endowed Professor in Citizenship Education

Wolfgang Althof is the Teresa M. Fischer Professor of Citizenship Education and serves as the Executive Director of the Citizenship Education Clearing House (CECH) at the College of Education and the Co-Director (with Marvin W. Berkowitz) of the Center for Character and Citizenship. Prior to coming to UM-St. Louis he was at the Department of Education, University of Fribourg, Switzerland. At UMSL, he teaches courses in Citizenship Education and Qualitative Social Research Methods. Cody Ding, Ph.D., Ph.D.
Professor

Dr. Cody Ding completed his Ph.D. in University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. He was trained as a psychologist with emphasis on developmental psychology, methodology, and measurement. Over years, he has been working as a professor at universities, teaching educational and psychological assessment, research designs, behavioral analysis, and other methodological related courses. In addition, he has been working with many school districts and the state educational agencies on various evaluation projects to improve student learning and school practices.

Jacquelyn Lewis-Harris, Ph.D., Ph.D.
Associate Professor

Dr. Lewis-Harris received her M.A. and Ph.D.in Anthropology from Washington University in St. Louis in 2005. Her current research explores the role of indigenous culture and arts in the development of adolescent migrant student's identities and learning within education systems and extra-local communities. She is particularly interested in the function of independent "culture  schools" found in urban environments as they often support performance and traditional arts groups while introducing young people to their indigenous cultural history.

E. Desmond Lee Endowed Professor of Urban Education

Dr. Jerome E. Morris is the E. Desmond Lee Endowed Professor of Urban Education (in conjunction with St. Louis Public Schools) and a Research Fellow with the Center for Public Policy Research at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. His research is grounded in sociology, anthropology, school reform, and urban studies. As a social scientist, Dr. Morris’ scholarship reflects a deep and abiding familiarity with communities, families, and schools. The nexus of race, social class, and the geography of educational opportunity is a major theme of Dr. Morris’ scholarship, and he has been in the forefront of highlighting the centrality of the U.S. South in understanding Black people’s experiences. ...

Lee Nelson is coordinator of School Counseling in the Counselor Education program. Professor Turner received her Ed.D. and M.Ed. from the University of Arkansas and her BA from Arkansas State University.
