What We Do
The Office of Clinical Experience is just one of the many departments throughout UMSL College of Education that helps to prepare students for a successful, meaningful and rewarding career in the field of formal and informal education. Together with our studio school partners, we provide a quality clinical experience that reaches far beyond the academic curriculum.
The College of Education's comprehensive and rigorous curriculum prepares teacher candidates to be highly successful educators. This process includes intensive coursework from qualified faculty; opportunities to take required Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education assessments; continuous support from Clinical Educators and a year-long practicum experience in a local school or Studio Schools. Practicum incorporates our innovative ResponsiveDesign™ model, our Inquiry Into My Practice (IMP) approach and informative on-campus seminars -- all designed to ensure that each teacher candidate is fully prepared for certification and has a promising future as an effective educator.
The Office of Clinical Experience also places Bachelor of Educational Studies candidates in each of their internships with our partner agencies such as the St. Louis Zoo, The Gateway Arch, Beyond Housing to name a few. Or, bring us an idea and we’ll help you find an internship.
