Welcome to the College of Education at the University of Missouri-St. Louis!
The mission of the College of Education Advising Office is to provide our students with a holistic, transformative advising experience that will meet their academic, personal and professional needs and empower them to become successful education professionals. Our motto is “Our Students-Second to none!”
In our office both current students and prospective students are advised by professional academic advisors in a variety of ways.
In order to best serve our students’ needs, we have academic advisors that specialize in specific degree programs. We highly recommend that students schedule advising appointments to ensure that a professional advisor is available at the time of their visit. It crucial that students meet with their advisor on a regular basis and DO NOT attempt to self-advise, as this can prove costly and waste valuable time. Please call 314-516-5937 to schedule an appointment.
For undergraduate students, our Undergraduate Academic Advisors assist students with numerous academic services for both the B.S.ED. degree, that includes Missouri teacher certification, and the B.E.S. degree for non-traditional educators.
Designated Graduate academic advisors advise Graduate students seeking M.Ed. degrees, Graduate Certificates or teacher certification. Faculty Advisors are also available to work with students in meeting their professional goals.
For those in a career transition seeking teacher certification, we have specific advisors that can assist students with several options in post-baccalaureate teacher certification.
The College of Education Advising website will serve as a useful resource for every current and prospective student interested in the College of Education. It is designed to answer many of the common questions that students may have. Included are useful links to university and state academic requirements. It is important that students check their UMSL email on a regular basis- this is the only avenue used to communicate with students.
As the Director, it is my pleasure to welcome you to UMSL’s College of Education. We wish you every success as you attend UMSL and throughout your professional career!
Thanks for Choosing UMSL- We Transform Lives!
