The Missouri General Education Assessment test (MoGEA) is a general content examination that covers the areas of Reading, Writing, Math, Science and Social Studies. A student must either submit a composite ACT score of 20 or higher or complete the MoGEA with passing scores before admission to the Teacher Education Program. The test is divided in to 4 subtests. UMSL's passing scores for Science and Social Studies, Reading and Math subtests are 220. For the Writing subtest, 193 is a passing score. The MoGEA may be taken at UMSL's Testing Center.

The Missouri Content Assessment is a required education content examination for state certification. We advise undergraduates to take this test during the first semester of Practicum. Graduate alternative certification students must pass this test prior to beginning their program. The passing scores for all tests is 220.
