COE News and Highlights

Welcome 2007-08 New COE Faculty

On behalf of the College of Education I am pleased to introduce to you our three new tenure-track faculty colleagues:

Dr. Pi-Chi Han (pronounced Peachy Hon, like Honda) has joined the Division of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies in the College of Education. Dr. Han's expertise is Human Resource Development. She obtained her doctorate from the University of Arkansas and a master's degree with an emphasis in technical and vocational education from Pittsburgh State University. Most recently she was an assistant professor in the International Trade Department at Tamkang University in Taiwan.

Dr. Donghyuck Ryan Lee (prefers to be called Ryan) joins the Division of Counseling and Family Therapy as an assistant professor. Dr. Lee's field of expertise is career counseling, vocational psychology, psychological assessment, and statistics. He comes to the University of Missouri - St. Louis from Florida State University where he just completed his doctorate in counseling psychology. Florida State's program (along with UM-St. Louis) is one of only nine nationally accredited programs in career counseling in the country. He did his doctoral internship at Pennsylvania State University in their counseling center. We are very fortunate to have him join our nationally and internationally prominent counseling faculty.

Dr. Alina Slapac joins the Division of Teaching and Learning in the College of Education. Her field of expertise is in Educational Foundations, English as a Second Language, and Multicultural Education. She comes to UM-St. Louis from the University of Northern Iowa where she completed her doctorate in Curriculum & Instruction. Her dissertation was entitled Addressing Diversity: A Case Study of Teacher Educators' Views and Instructional Practices. She has been a lecturer in Educational Foundations and Educational Psychology at SIU-E for the past year.

Please join me in a rousing standing ovation for our three outstanding new colleagues!
