Education
Dr. Cheryl Bielema earned her doctorate from the University of
Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, in 1996. She studied the factors
affecting implementation of computer-mediated communication in a distance
learning environment and continues to study the utilization of technology
and student learning outcomes, in a longitudinal study of Blackboard.
Research and Teaching
Dr. Bielema’s research and interests are in the areas of technology-enhanced
learning outcomes and in the interaction of learning styles and online
learning experiences. She conducts faculty technology needs assessments
and evaluation of online courses. Dr. Bielema teaches ED TEC/ADU ED
6404 Technology Development in Learning Organizations.
Faculty Instructional Support
As Instructional Development Specialist with Information Technology
Services, Bielema leads faculty development and training programs
for integration of technology into teaching. She collaborates with
the Center for Teaching and Learning on several jointly-sponsored
projects, including the annual Focus on Teaching and Technology Conference
and a Mid-Semester Student Feedback System. She is a member of the
Dean’s Advisory Board for Online Learning and the state MOREnet
Council. Professionally, Dr. Bielema holds membership in the American
Evaluation Association, University Continuing Education Association,
and the Association for Communication Excellence.
