EDUCATION

Dr. Kashubeck-West received her Ph.D. (1989) and her M.A. (1987) in Counseling Psychology from The Ohio State University. Her undergraduate degree (1984) was in psychology and women's studies at the University of Michigan. She has been a licensed psychologist since 1993. Her theoretical orientation is an integration of humanistic, cognitive-behavioral, and feminist therapies. Dr. Kashubeck-West joined the UM-St. Louis faculty in 2001.

RESEARCH

Dr. Kashubeck-West's primary research interests fall into two main areas: body image and eating disorders, and multicultural issues (broadly defined). She is interested in issues related to sexual orientation, race/ethnicity, and gender, primarily as they relate to psychological well-being.

TEACHING

Dr. Kashubeck-West teaches courses in Personal and Professional Development in Counseling, Theories of Counseling, Multicultural Counseling, Practicum, Counseling Sexual Minorities, Research Methods, Advanced Multicultural Counseling, and Field Experience.

SERVICE

At UM-St. Louis, Dr. Kashubeck-West currently serves as the College of Education representative to the Institutional Review Board, chair of the College of Education IRB Committee, on the Graduate Council, and as chair of the Counseling Psychology Doctoral Program Development Committee. In addition, she is a member of the task force revising the American Psychological Association's Guidelines for Psychological Practice with Lesbian, Gay, and Bisexual Clients.
