Knowledge Base Statement:
The K-12 Faculty believes that an administrator in order to raise the achievement for all students in an educational setting must be grounded in at least the following areas:
- Knowledge contexts of education administration, including historical and philosophical thinking
- Social Contextdss of education, including ethical decision-making
- Political and Economic Contexts of education, including pressures for accountability and privatization
- Legal Contexts of education
- Multiple perspectives of education inquiry including practitioner and classroom-based research
- Administrators must also have skills school and community relations, collective bargaining and negotiations, staff development and supervision, personnel administration,building and sites.

Masters and Doctoral Programs in Educational Leadership
Theory-based, research-driven and practitioner-oriented, the master's and doctoral programs contribute to education's expanding role in a dynamic society and growing St. Louis community. Based upon a solid foundation of theory, a flexible framework of courses and cohort study provides the student with a context for the study of leadership practices.
Graduates of these programs hold positions of leadership in area schools, community agencies, foundations, and government.
