Higher Ed Mission Statement

To help students of Higher Education to:

• Provide an increased understanding of higher education as an area of inquiry and practice;
• To prepare students for careers in higher education.

Higher Ed Knowledge Base:

The Higher Education faculty believes that the understanding of postsecondary institutions is reflective in the following areas:

• Awareness of education and educational Research as a lifelong process
• Integrating teaching, learning, and technology
• Understanding the unique role of shared governances in postsecondary institutions
• Pursuing advanced graduate study in teaching disciplines
• Understanding legal, social, and political contexts
• Student learning and development, including learning communities and curricular issues
• Exploring issues related to faculty
• Critical inquiry including research courses and internships.
