Master of Education in Higher Education

Overview

The Master of Education degree program in Higher Education prepares students for teaching and/or administrative positions in colleges and universities. To meet the minimum of 32 hours of credit, the candidate's program includes 12 credit hours of foundation courses; 12 credit hours in higher education; adult education, or education technology electives; 3-6 hours of research; internship or thesis; and an exit course. All programs must be planned with a graduate advisor in higher education and are subject to approval by the advisor, the College of Education, and the Graduate School. As in all Master’s degree programs, requirements of the Graduate School and the College of Education must be met. Register only with the advice of a graduate advisor. Arrange to confer with your assigned advisor early.

Prerequisite

Graduate students wishing to enter this program must apply for admission to the Graduate School as a M.Ed. student. The criteria for admission are undergraduate grade point averages of 2.75 or better in the undergraduate major (and in education, if applicable) and in total undergraduate hours. Applicants who anticipate they will not meet these criteria should contact the Graduate Education Office (314-516-5483) for supportive evidence materials.
